One of the most anticipated events in February-- the "Intayon Ilocos Sur Festival” held in Vigan City. It is a celebration that unites all municipalities and cities of Ilocos Sur. Showcasing their own products, culture, and traditions while boosting tourism and local economy. The festival also offers various activities like trade fairs, concerts, cosplay, bingo night, pageants, and battle of the bands, making it exciting not only for visitors but also for locals.
On February 1, the festival officially kicked off with the Ilocos Sur Trade and Food Fair at the Govantes Dike and Boardwalk. There were 376 exhibitors and LGU booths presenting their “One Town, One Product” (OTOP). Municipalities and cities proudly displayed their best local crafts/ delicacies, making the trade fair one of the main highlights of the celebration. It really showed how rich and creative the province is.
On February 2, it started with an Eucharistic Celebration and the Los Patrones Procession. After that, the Grand Parade filled the streets of Vigan City with creative floats, and representatives from different communities. The parade was fun and full of energy, showing the unity and pride of each municipality.
The festival continued at the Quirino Stadium for the Grand Opening Ceremony, where many people gathered. There was a drone and fireworks show, and one of the main highlights is the live performances by Kai Montinola and Kyle Echarri. Governor Jerry Singson also formally opened the event and shocked everyone by the surprise announced class suspension and government work the next day. These were just some of the many activities prepared for the festival, making the whole celebration even more exciting for everyone.
