Another year older for Ilocos Sur National High School as we celebrate its 124th Foundation Day. A celebration full of anticipation, preparation, and unforgettable memories as students and even teachers came together to join the parade and field demonstration. Everyone showed and gave their all -- energy, creativity, and competitiveness while proudly representing their grade level. This celebration reminds us of the long history of our school and how proud we are to be part of it.

But of course, it also came with a lot of preparation. A few weeks before the event, the school was already getting busy with students getting excused from classes to prepare, make props, and to practice for the field demo. It's during props making, when we helped one another, laughed at each other, and sometimes even blamed each other when a prop suddenly went missing. The field demo rehearsals were done under the heat of the sun, which made it even more tiring. Those days were filled with dancing, chaos, laughter, and teamwork. After all the hard work, we finally finished our props, practiced many times, and in the end, we can say that we were prepared.

The day of the event finally came. Even early in the morning, the school was already buzzing with students. Even though it was still very early, many students were already filling the school, wearing their colorful props and preparing for the school parade. We even walked in the parade along Calle Crisologo before going back to the school.

When we returned, each section was called, and the field demo began. It started with the promoted teachers, followed by the boys from Grade 7 to 11, and then the girls. Since it wasn’t our turn yet, we went back to our classroom to enjoy our meal. Sharing the delicious food together with our teacher not only filled our stomachs but also gave us a moment to relax. After finishing, we returned to the field to watch the other performances while waiting for our turn.

When it was our turn, we all gave our best, putting everything we had into the performance and showing all the practice we had done. We wanted it to be something that the audience would enjoy, but also something we could be proud of. Of course, our props added even more excitement, bringing the Aladdin theme to life and making the whole performance better.

By the time we finished, we were tired but seeing that everyone’s hard work came together -- the cheers from the audience, the colorful props, and the creativity of each performance made all the preparation and exhaustion worth it. After the field demo, the results were announced. Unfortunately, Grade 10 didn’t bag the win, but despite that, we were still happy. The experience, the teamwork, and the memories we made were more important. The 124th Foundation Day wasn’t just about winning competitions, it was also about teamwork and being proud to be part of Ilocos Sur National High School.
